Friction and wear in hydraulic motor maintenance

May 09, 2022

In more than ten years of experience in hydraulic motor maintenance, the hydraulic motor failures encountered are strange. We have learned that the causes of hydraulic motor maintenance are internal and external factors. In the external factors, I met many examples of hydraulic motor maintenance caused by friction and wear, so I wanted to write an article on the topic of friction and wear, so I had this article.

After precise machining, the surface of the components of the hydraulic motor will look very smooth and flat. Most people will not think that there will be any friction damage when they see this situation. However, if we carefully observe with a magnifying glass, we will find that there are many uneven defects on the surface between various parts that we cannot see with the naked eye. After the hydraulic motor has been running for a period of time, there will always be certain wear in the surfaces of various parts that cooperate with each other. Such wear will make metal particles fall off the surface of parts, and the uneven parts of the surface of parts will be relatively smoothed, but at the same time, some metal powder will be produced.

However, the wear will not stop because of this. During the continuous use of the hydraulic motor in the future and the continuous friction of various parts in the future, the working surface of the parts will produce certain wear marks or reduce the size, resulting in the decline of the accuracy of the hydraulic motor and other adverse reactions. This kind of wear belongs to normal natural friction wear, also known as abrasive damage or technical wear. Common examples are: after long-term use of the hydraulic motor, although it has been well maintained, after long-term operation, there is still some wear on the mating surface of the friction pair, for example, the friction pair of the valve plate and the cylinder block. The traces of the worn valve plate on the working surface will show bright annular wear marks, and the worn thickness will be reduced, resulting in loss of accuracy.

The above friction and wear in hydraulic motor maintenance are the causes of friction and wear. The process and results of hydraulic motor maintenance are often faced with this situation. As such conditions can only continuously reduce the friction and wear, but can not be completely removed, in addition to the daily maintenance of the hydraulic motor, the hydraulic motor should be sent to a professional maintenance place for maintenance at regular intervals to ensure the normal working efficiency of the hydraulic motor.
